This New EBook Book Reader Manufactured By The Computer Giants Acer Inc. Set To Join Kindle2
Acer., no slouch when it comes to challenging in the personal computer space, plans to come into the ebook book reader arena later this year.
Acer director Jim Wong, head of the companies IT Products branch, outlined the plans through an interview with Bloomberg at Acer's offices in Taipei.
The day before Apple's purported entrance into the tablet sweeps-a gadget that will serve e-book readers with others-Wong also said the company will also offer "hundreds" of apps online, programs that could support Google's Android program, at present running on some Acer products, over and above supporting Microsoft's Windows OS.
By July, Acer is anticipated to release an electronic-book reader with a 150 mm black and white screen, Mr. Wong informed Bloomberg. "Amazon and Barnes & Noble; they are U.S.-centric. In Europe and Asia-Pacific we have publishers to work with, and nearly everyone of them are subject matter owners," he alleged. Acer would go up in opposition to devices including the Kindle , Barnes & Noble Inc.'s Nook and Sony's Ereader and so it will be easy to compare ebook reader models.
Acer also has the Apple "iSlate"-if it appears-to contend with. "We are developing something, and we should see what happens" J.T. Wang, Acer's chairman, maintained in the report. "We are certain to perform either inside the Windows world or in Google's defined OS space."
